The Showcase Series would like to shine a light on one of our Affiliates recent successes. If you are from Louisiana and know anything about baseball you have heard of the Hogs. Joe Teuton Sr started the Houma Hogs back in the 80’s and “Little Joe” Teuton continues running the organization and helping players in their baseball careers. One of these former Hogs has recently been called up to the Major Leagues. Tanner Rainey, from Hammond, LA is currently pitching with the Cincinnati Reds.
Tanner is an example for all of the Hogs and everyone that partakes in the Showcase Series. Every player has a dream to play in college and hopefully the Major Leagues. Tyler was drafted from West Alabama. That's right, West Alabama, so we can tell you his road was not paved in gold. There were several detours. He originally committed to Southeastern Louisiana and played there his 1st 2 college seasons. But with many players, detours take place. Tanner detoured but never lost focus on his goals and dreams.
We want to highlight the Hogs and Tyler so that players around the Southeast can take notice that you don’t have to play in the SEC or a Div I school to reach your dreams. If you work hard and take advantage of your opportunities, scouts in today's world will find you.
Great job Tanner and continued success. Congratulations Joe and the Hogs for running a quality organization. We are proud to have you as part of the Showcase Series.
